Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport, a key player in enhancing regional travel in Northern California, just announced a strategic expansion of its service. Avelo Airlines has committed to directly connecting wine enthusiasts and travelers to two new destinations: Salt Lake City, Utah, and Ontario, California. These additional routes intend to firmly root Sonoma County on the aviation map and solidify the airport's standing as a pivotal regional hub.
Starting this fall, the airport will proudly offer nonstop services to 15 cities across the western United States. Flights to Ontario will launch on October 10 and to Salt Lake City on October 24, operating on Thursdays and Sundays. Avelo will deploy its Boeing Next-Generation 737 fleet to carry passengers through the skies to these new locations.
District 4 Supervisor James Gore, who represents the airport area, shared his enthusiasm with Sonoma County, "As our beloved airport continues to grow, I'm delighted to see more destinations offered by Avelo Airlines". His statement is a testament to the regional pride and sentiment that STS is more than just an airport; it's an economic and social catalyst for Sonoma County's communities.
With the inclusion of Ontario and Salt Lake City, Avelo Airlines will now service eight non-stop destinations from the Santa Rosa-based airport. Other cities in Avelo's offering include Bend/Redmond, Boise, Kalispell, Las Vegas, Los Angeles/Burbank, Palm Springs, and Salem. As Andrew Levy, Founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, stated, this expansion is part of a larger commitment to "bringing more convenient, reliable and affordable travel options to the community", as per Sonoma County.
