A Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, following a fatal shooting that took place in the city's Eastern District earlier this month. The Baltimore Police Department reports that 42-year-old Leon Spencer is accused of killing 32-year-old John Parrish during a verbal altercation on July 16.
According to the official news release, the dispute between Spencer and Parrish escalated when Spencer allegedly fired a gun at Parrish in the 3200 block of Lawnview Avenue. The victim, Parrish, was critically injured in the incident, and despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead two days later, on July 18.
Spencer was apprehended by law enforcement immediately following the shooting and subsequently transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility.
Ongoing investigations into the motive and circumstances of the shooting are currently underway, and police have not released additional information about what may have led to the argument, or if the men knew each other before the incident. Spencer remains in custody awaiting trial and has yet to state the charges against him.
