A machete assault in downtown Bellevue has the police on the lookout for a 66-year-old suspect following an incident that saw a man severely injured. The altercation took place on Friday night on the 200 block of 111th Avenue Northeast, as per KIRO7.
Arriving at approximately 8:50 p.m., Bellevue Police discovered a 55-year-old man clutching a blood-soaked towel to his arm outside an apartment complex, reported KIRO7. The lobby of the apartment complex where the victim was found sported a significant amount of blood.
The officers immediately rendered first aid by applying a tourniquet and packing the wound with gauze, stabilizing the situation until medics from Bellevue Fire Department arrived. As detailed by KIRO7, the victim was then quickly transported to Overlake Hospital for further treatment.
The victim and a 33-year-old who was also present described the assailant as a man known to the victim, according to KOMO News. The suspect supposedly launched the attack following a brief verbal exchange in which he accused the victim of stealing his wallet, resulting in a deep laceration to the arm of the victim. In an attempt to defend his life, the victim resorted to using bear spray on the aggressor.
The police are continuing their investigation into the attack, as noted by KIRO7. Updates will be provided as the situation develops and more information comes to light.
