Two deputies from Bexar County were seriously injured during an eviction that escalated into a violent confrontation, as they attempted to serve an eviction warrant on Wednesday afternoon. The officers arrived at an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Gardendale Road at around 2:30 p.m., tasked with serving a court-ordered writ of petition warrant for a tenant to vacate the property.
Drama unfolded when the tenant, a 58-year-old man, allegedly barricaded himself inside his apartment, refusing to vacate, authorities arrived at the complex, the situation quickly turned hostile, and when the officers breached the apartment he attacked them with a sharp weapon; the exact nature of the weapon has not been disclosed by the constables office, according to information obtained by KENS5.
Both deputies sustained injuries in the altercation and were subsequently transported to a hospital for evaluation—one suffering head lacerations and remaining in stable condition as of Wednesday evening. The identities of both the injured deputies and the suspect have not been made public.
Following the altercation the suspect was restrained, and taken into custody he is now facing a charge of aggravated assault on an officer with a deadly weapon, alongside any other charges that may arise during the ongoing investigation, however, details on potential additional charges have yet to be released as reported by Fox San Antonio.
