Early Monday morning, a blaze erupted at an abandoned house in Gibsonton, causing significant delays on US Highway 41. According to FOX 13 News. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was alerted to the incident around 4 a.m. when passersby saw a large fire while driving along the highway.
As firefighters rushed to the site, residents reported a sizable plume of smoke visible from a distance. Upon arrival, the unit found the house fully engulfed in flames, as stated by WFLA News Channel 8. The fire, taking place at 12155 South US Highway 41, drew considerable attention, from both onlookers and those experiencing, the subsequent traffic build-up.
The efforts to subdue the fire lasted approximately 25 minutes before the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue team could declare it under control. "Crews said they arrived at the scene to find a fully-involved house fire," according to WFLA News Channel 8. The fire led to traffic congestion as lanes were restricted, and drivers were urged to seek alternative routes during the busy morning rush.
WTSP 10 Tampa Bay reported that calls came in from multiple drivers who spotted the blaze off the road, near the intersection of US 41 and Symmes Road. As the fire was extinguished, crews remained on-site to ensure no flare-ups could reignite the damage, while the authorities continued to manage the affected traffic corridors.
