Authorities in Ocoee are currently carrying out an investigation after a body was found Friday along the shoreline of Starke Lake. Police responded to the scene around 11 a.m. following a distress call from a passerby who discovered a man not breathing. Local emergency services have preliminarily identified the cause of death as drowning, as reported by WESH.
The identity of the man, nor the circumstances leading up to his death have been publicly disclosed. The role of the Orange County Medical Examiner is to officially determine the cause and, manner of death. As of now, the Ocoee Police have said there isn't an indication that a crime occurred, as per Orange Observer.
The Ocoee Police Department has extended their condolences to the family of the deceased, "We will release more information as it becomes available," they added, according to Orange Observer.
