
The University of Central Florida community woke to unsettling news on Tuesday as officials confirmed the discovery of a deceased individual in a pond near the campus. The body was located in waters close to Alafaya Trail and Gemini Boulevard, a central area frequented by students and staff of the university alike, as reported by ClickOrlando.
UCF Police Department, which is leading the investigation, according to ClickOrlando, authorities have reported there's no immediate threat to those on campus grounds. Identification of the deceased, along with notification of next of kin, is pending as the investigation continues, with the body currently in the hands of the Medical Examiner’s Office.
A spokesperson for the UCF Police Department, Amanda Sellers, emphasized the perceived lack of danger to the campus community in a statement. "No suspicious activity is suspected, and there is no threat to campus,” Sellers detailed, as detailed by WFTV.
