A body discovered inside a burned-out vehicle at the Memphis Police Department's impound lot is suspected to be that of missing 20-year-old Jaderius Webb, authorities confirmed. As stated by the Horn Lake Police Department and reported by Action News 5, Webb was last seen last Friday, July 19, with his missing report filed the following day, coinciding with the discovery of his vehicle on fire at Weaver and Tully Roads in Southwest Memphis.

The case is now being investigated as a homicide. In an unlikely juxtaposition, Horn Lake police are reportedly waiting for DNA testing to confirm the body's identity, as suggested by a WREG report. The body, retrieved from the car at the MPD impound lot at 465 Klinke Avenue, was not initially noticed by impound lot staff, a detail drawing attention to the protocols that were supposed to prevent such oversights following similar prior incidents.

This incident echoes previous tragedies at the same impound lot, where in 2007 and again in 2018, bodies were found under comparable circumstances—overlooked in towed vehicles. The most recent, involving Bardomiano Perez Hernandez, led to substantial policy review and updates, including inspections with cadaver dogs and new crime scene training for officers. Former MPD Director Michael Rallings had previously assured that “These changes will ensure that every vehicle is thoroughly checked and we never let an incident like this happen again,” as quoted by WREG.

Vehicle Management Solutions (VMS), which now operates the impound lot after assuming control in January this year, has not issued any statement regarding the intake process or how the body, believed found inside Webb's burned car, remained unnoticed.

Memphis Police are urging anyone with information about this case to contact the Horn Lake or Memphis Police Department, as noted by FOX13 Memphis.
