A somber shadow has been cast over the community of Bonney Lake, where a domestic violence-related homicide has claimed the life of a 53-year-old woman. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department blog, deputies were dispatched to a residence in Rhododendron Park at 3:27 pm, July 5th, for a welfare check instigated by concerning texts received by family members.
The texts, sent by the victim's husband, were confessions of a grim act — "I killed their mother," he declared. The deputies embarked to immediately respond, finding upon their arrival a situation as grave as the texts had suggested. The woman was found deceased inside her home. Deputies, moved by urgency, issued a be-on-the-lookout alert (BOLO) statewide for the suspect and his vehicle.
It was at 6:36 pm that the Auburn Police Department intervened, detaining the suspect at a Chevron Gas Station on Auburn Way South. This arrest came after an alert issuance that only lasted for a few hours, proving effective as the law enforcement net swiftly drew tighter around the suspect.
The investigation ensues, with detectives and forensic investigators seamlessly toiling around the clock. Warrants have been served for the suspect's home and vehicle. The suspect, also 53, is facing severe judicial scrutiny, booked into the Pierce County Jail for Murder in the 1st Degree, as detailed in the sheriff's department's report. The full scope of forensics and investigatory expertise is now piercing into the details of this tragic incident, intent on bringing to light the entire truth buried in the darkness of one family's catastrophic loss.
