On Friday, just as the clock nudged past 5 PM, Boston's South End neighborhood became the scene of an altercation. According to the Boston Police Department, 29-year-old Patrick O’Neill of Boston was taken into custody by officers from District D-4. Charged with assault and robbery, his apprehension followed a distress call indicating an armed robbery in progress at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Shawmut Avenue.
The incident occurred just two days ago, with officers being alerted by Boston Police Operations to the robbery underway, it was apparent, that danger was at the scene. A swift response by law enforcement led to the discovery of two men entangled in a struggle, one wielding a knife. The officers commanded the man to drop his weapon, which was complied with. O'Neill, identified as the armed individual, was then secured and arrested.
Subsequent charges against O’Neill include Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Intent to Rob While Armed, and Assault and Battery. The suspect is slated for arraignment at Roxbury District Court.
