Boston's Youth Violence Strike Force made an arrest in Dorchester last night, confiscating a firearm and a variety of drugs after stopping a speeding vehicle. According to the Boston Police Department, Peda Legendd, 26, faces multiple charges following a traffic stop at the intersection of Washington Street and Dunbar Street.
The incident unfolded around 8:28 PM, when officers patrolling the area noticed a vehicle driving recklessly and quickly proceeding onto Stockton Street. After initiating a stop, the officers conducted a search of the vehicle upon further investigation, leading to the discovery of the contraband. A Ruger EC9 handgun with ammunition, as well as various drugs including marijuana, cocaine and fentanyl, were among the items found.
The stash included twenty-five bags of marijuana, fifty marijuana chocolate bars, seven designer packages of marijuana, powder and crack cocaine, fifteen pills of fentanyl, three digital scales and over a thousand dollars in cash. Legendd was subsequently arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession with intent to distribute across several drug classes, among other charges.
The firearm, a loaded Ruger EC9 with one round in the chamber and four in the magazine was determined to be carried illegally. Legendd's possession of drugs intended for distribution could significantly impact the community, where the struggle with illegal substances is ongoing. He is expected to face these charges in Dorchester District Court the details of which, have been published by local authorities.
