Two Boston men were taken into custody by the Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) Yesterday after police recovered multiple firearms during an attempt to serve an arrest warrant. Chayanne Velazquez, 32, from Dorchester, and Isiaih Speller, 28, of Boston, are facing serious charges following the incident which unfolded at an apartment on Huntington Ave.

According to the Boston Police Department's report, officers established a perimeter and tried to make contact with the occupants, which led to a firearm being thrown from a window of the residence. After a forced entry, police apprehended Velazquez and Speller. The officers at the scene recovered two Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm handguns along with their ejected magazines and ammunition.

Velazquez is facing several charges, including a warrant issued out of New Hampshire for Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Use of a Firearm, and Possession of a Controlled Substance with the intent to sell. Further charges against him in Boston include Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd Offense), Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Fugitive from Justice. Speller, alongside numerous warrants, including Violation of Abuse Prevention Order and A&B with a Dangerous Weapon, was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

These arrests highlight ongoing efforts by the YVSF to curb the tide of violence in Boston streets. Both suspects were reportedly scheduled for arraignment in Roxbury District Court, as law enforcement continues its pursuit of ensuring the safety within the community.
