Boston is bracing for a mixed bag of weather conditions over the next week, ranging from warm and humid days to the possibility of showers and thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service, today will see partly sunny skies with highs near 89 degrees and a south wind blowing at 6 to 13 mph. Patchy fog is expected to roll in late, and the temperatures will drop to around 72 degrees tonight.
A change in the weather will descend upon Boston come Wednesday. Residents should be on the lookout for scattered showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m. followed by more probable showers and possibly a thunderstorm until 4 p.m. "A chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then a slight chance of showers," is the forecast for Wednesday night, with lows hovering around 73 degrees. On Thursday, the chance for precipitation continues, albeit minimally, with mostly sunny conditions and a high near 91.
While Thursday may bring a slight respite from the humidity, NBC Boston reports a quick return to sticky air as the weekend approaches, with more scattered downpours and thunderstorms in the forecast. "Terms like "scattered" often leave more questions than answers," the NBC Boston article notes, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the pending weekend weather.
Adding to weather concerns is the activity brewing in the tropics. A storm of interest is forming and could potentially impact the Bahamas and the Eastern Seaboard by next week. While the weather may take center stage, it's essential to note that a flash flood emergency is currently in effect for Saint Johnsbury, Vermont, and surrounding areas until Tuesday morning due to severe downpours.
