Bradenton resident Pierre C. Marc, 37, has been sentenced to a 30-year term in federal prison following a conviction for an array of drug trafficking offenses. Judge William Jung of the U.S. District Court dealt the sentence after Marc was found guilty in an April trial for conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute significant quantities of drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and heroin, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The case unfolded in the courtroom where evidence was laid bare, showing Marc as a significant figure in illegal drug distribution within Florida’s Middle District. A crucial testimony came from an individual who affirmed that between January and September of 2019, they received an ounce of fentanyl and one to two kilograms of cocaine weekly from Marc for the purpose of distributing it in Pinellas County. Another witness confirmed Marc’s involvement in supplying multiple kilograms of fentanyl intended for distribution in Manatee County during 2020 and 2021.
Federal agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as well as local law enforcement from the St. Petersburg Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, were integral in the investigation leading to Marc’s arrest and subsequent conviction. The collective effort was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which targets high-level drug trafficking organizations with a coordinated, multi-agency approach.
The prosecution saw Assistant United States Attorney Shauna S. Hale at the helm. The OCDETF's dedicated work to this case and others shines light on the extensive network involved in the nation's ongoing struggle with major drug trafficking.
