Last evening, narcotics detectives in Brockton apprehended Ermirio Rosa, a 23-year-old wanted man, during a traffic stop at the County Street/Cedar Grove intersection. Rosa, who was under surveillance for suspected drug activity, was found to be in possession of drugs and an illegal weapon, according to the New Bedford Police Department. Upon searching Rosa’s vehicle, authorities discovered a 9mm Ruger handgun loaded with ample ammunition in his fanny pack, alongside a sizable quantity of addictive substances.
Detectives did not only find an illegal firearm but also seized various narcotics, including 25 grams of crack cocaine, 65 grams of fentanyl, and 50 tablets of Adderall, along with $1,050 in cash likely tied to Rosa’s illegal activities. His apprehension has potentially stymied a flow of drugs into local streets. In a statement provided by the police department, it was also revealed that Rosa had three active arrest warrants out against him which accounted for drug and firearm charges, heroin trafficking, and traffic offenses.
The Brockton native has had past encounters with the law, as he was previously convicted for possession of a class A substance with the intent to distribute. This prior conviction could escalate the severity of the penalties Rosa now faces for his new charges. The arrest, carried out by Det. Emily Pacheco, signifies a noteworthy success for local law enforcement in their fight against drug-related crimes and gun violence.
