Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a violent incident that occurred in early May on Washington Avenue, Houston. The suspects, Caleb Alejandro Madrigal, 26, and his younger brother Tanausu Mikel Madrigal, 21, face serious charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, as detailed in a news release posted on the City of Houston's official website. Caleb was apprehended on Saturday by the HPD South Gessner Division's Crime Suppression Team, while Tanausu was taken into custody back on May 30 by HPD SWAT officers.

The assault, which took place around 2:20 a.m. on May 3 outside 5110 Washington Avenue, left a 26-year-old man critically injured and unresponsive due to severe facial and head injuries. According to the City of Houston's news release, the victim was promptly transported to a hospital by paramedics from the Houston Fire Department. Initially, authorities had no suspects to immediately turn to connect with the savage beating.

Detective M. Bellahna of the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division worked on the case, which eventually led to the identification of the Madrigals as suspects. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was then brought into the loop to proceed with the charges. It was not immediately clear what motive the Madrigal brothers might have had or what events led up to the assault.

The City of Houston's news service also included booking photos of both suspects alongside its announcement. The case is now making its way through the courts, with Caleb being charged in the 486th State District Court and Tanausu in the 337th State District Court.
