The City of Buckeye has announced that from August 1, local companies can make improvements to their spaces with assistance from the Catalyst Program. In a statement released on Tuesday by the Buckeye Economic Development Department, it's clear that the city is putting stock into the aesthetic and functional upgrade of its commercial quarters. Business owners in Buckeye can apply for grants of up to $50,000 to enhance the curb appeal of their buildings.
Funding from the Catalyst Program is a partnership, businesses have to invest in the city in order to receive a portion of the funds. By committing part of their finances, they become eligible for reimbursement after jumping through a few hoops: successful project completion and submission of the required paperwork. With the inclusion of signage updates as a new grant-eligible project, participants can revitalize their stores.
Since its inception, the Catalyst Program's scoreboard boasts impressive numbers: $950,000 in disbursements to businesses, generating over $1.7 million in private spending. Total of a $2.65 million was invested into revamping Buckeye's business exteriors. Business owners who would like to take advantage of this opportunity can download an application from the city's webpage for economic development. By maintaining a 2:1 return on investment ratio, the program affirms its effectiveness in leveraging public funds to stimulate private economic contributions.
As reported by the Buckeye Economic Development Department, eligible upgrades cover a range: from landscaping to exterior lighting. Over ten years, an undeniable change has been wrought through the interplay of public and private interests.
