The incident, reported by the Alamance County Sheriff's Office, occurred in the early morning hours in the 3300 block of Beaver Creek Right Road. The victim, identified as Lourdes Vega, had unsuccessfully tried to escape the gunfire, seeking refuge at a nearby home. Witnesses quickly pointed out Victor Vega, her estranged husband, as the assailant. In an attempt to swiftly contain the situation, the Sheriff's Office's Special Response Team and drones were deployed, as noted by WXII 12. Tragically, Victor Vega's body was soon discovered in a detached garage at the home they once shared, dead from what has been determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
