CenterPoint Energy's project to upgrade natural gas lines in Minneapolis is steadily pushing forward, with work concentrated in the Central Neighborhood area. They outlined the work done and the work to come in early July.

Three crews from Michels Corporation, the authorized contractor, are currently tasked with moving indoor meters to the outside of properties by appointment and are on schedule to replace several natural gas service lines. One crew recently completed operations along Columbus Avenue S. from Lake Street E. to 36th Street E. According to CenterPoint Energy's bulletin, the other crews are set to work on Oakland Avenue S. from Lake Street E. to 31st Street E., 3rd Avenue S. southwards from Lake Street E., and 5th Avenue S. from 31st Street E. to 33rd Street E over the coming weeks.

Residents and commuters in the area should be ready to adjust their routes as one sidewalk will be closed at a time in these construction zones. Additionally, parking bans will be enforced on both sides of these streets while crews are actively working. CenterPoint Energy is communicating details on what disruptions to expect during this infrastructure upgrade on its website.
