
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has reported the arrest of a man following an attempted sexual assault. On Monday, July 29, 2024, a distressing incident occurred at an auto service center on Monroe Road, where a woman claimed that she was followed into the bathroom by a man who then tried to sexually assault her. The suspect is identified as 30-year-old Eleno Cervantes.
Responding to the call for help, detectives from CMPD’s Sexual Assault Unit quickly developed leads on the suspect. Following a swift arrest, CMPD identified Cervantes as the perpetrator. The department’s official communication praised its efficiency in promptly identifying and detaining the suspect without incident.

Cervantes is now facing multiple charges, ones that paint a grim picture of the events that transpired within the confines of that restroom. These charges, as noted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, include 2nd-degree attempted rape, 1st-degree kidnapping, sexual battery, and assault on a female. Reflecting the severity of these allegations, the man has been detained and is being held without bond.
