Chevy Chase himself is coming to Tampa to light up the holiday season a bit early this year. According to WFLA, the comedic actor will hold court at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on December 1, offering fans of the '89 holiday staple, National Lampoon's Christmas will be Vacation, a special screening and an intimate chat.
The screening, which will show Clark Griswold's hilariously disastrous attempts to host the ultimate Christmas experience, is slated for 7:30 p.m. And, if that's not enough to excite the 'Christmas Vacation' faithfuls, "Chase will share behind-the-scenes stories and anecdotes about the making of this beloved movie that has become a Christmas tradition," as described by the event organizers. Notably, tickets for this festive escapade are set to go on sale on Friday, with prices starting at $40—a small price to pay for die-hard Griswold fans, I might add.
As reported by ABC Action News, those tickets will be available starting July 12 at 10 a.m. For many, the event promises to be an occasion to relive the laughs and perhaps snag an insight or two about the film's production, which has undoubtedly left a mark on the holiday movie genre. Audience members can also look forward to a Q&A session, where Chase will likely field everything from softballs about his favorite scenes to possibly the harder pitches about his storied career.
Moreover, Tampa Bay residents can expect the Straz Center to become a nostalgic haven where fans will gather in not-so-silent-night anticipation. As Tampa Bay Times quips about the event, it's potentially sweeter than a year's membership to the jelly of the month club. Surely, the chance to interact with Chase, and get those once-in-a-lifetime stories is something of a pre-Christmas miracle in itself, for Tampa's myriad of Griswold fans.
