The unsettled pattern is set to continue into Wednesday, with potential thunderstorms "mainly before 4 pm" and some cloud cover expected. However, as the week progresses, conditions seem ready to clear significantly. Residents looking to finally give their umbrellas a break should be able to do so starting Thursday. The forecast heralds a turn towards sunny skies, suggesting that the city is about to enjoy several days of sunshine with "near seasonable temperatures continuing, as well as comfortable humidity levels," as per the National Weather Service Chicago.
Focusing on specific hazards, the National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook warns of "limited flooding risk north of I-80" today and tonight, and maintains a cautious tone for the nearshore waters of Lake Michigan, where there is also a "limited thunderstorm risk." Meanwhile, inland areas should generally be on alert for "locally heavy downpours and gusty winds" as the main concerns associated with the day's forecasted storms.
By the weekend, it seems that Chicagoans may comfortably plan outdoor activities. The National Weather Service's detailed forecast is calling for sunny skies with highs ranging from 76 to 89 degrees from Thursday to Sunday. Nighttime conditions are equally mild with lows in the mid-60s to mid-70s. However, it's worth noting to still keep an eye on the weather heading into the new week as there's a chance for a return of showers and thunderstorms by Monday.
