Chicago Police Department has sent out a community alert warning the public about a spate of armed robberies in the Englewood neighborhood. According to the alert, these incidents took place in the 007th District, marking an unsettling start to the month for residents.

There have been two reported cases, with the attackers targeting bystanders to steal their belongings. The first occurred on the 6100 Block of South Ashland Ave on July 2nd at approximately 11:00 A.M., and then again on the same avenue but in the 6300 Block, on June 27th at 9:00 P.M. Victims of these criminal acts were confronted by the assailants on foot, assaulted with an unknown weapon, and robbed.

The suspects have been described as a female Black, last seen wearing a white skirt, and a male Black in a black shirt and black shorts. The department urges the community to maintain a high level of awareness of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity or individuals matching these descriptions to the authorities instantly.

For those who may encounter or witness such crimes, CPD advises remaining calm and trying to recall any distinctive features of an assailant that may aid in their identification. "Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc...)," the police statement underscored. Residents with video surveillance systems are asked to save copies of any footage that might capture the incidents for further investigation. Additionally, in case an individual is approached by a witness of the crime, they should attempt to obtain their contact information while ensuring to dial 9-1-1 immediately and, if possible, stay on the scene until help arrives.
