LEANDER, Texas — A City of Leander employee was shot at Benbrook Ranch Park early Friday morning while performing her duties, police report. The 31-year-old woman, who was on duty cleaning the area, was found with a gunshot wound around 6:45 a.m. at the park located at the 1100 block of Haley Drive. She encountered Hannah Morgan-Barber, 32, in the park's bathroom near the disc golf course where the shooting occurred.

According to a statement by the Leander Police Department, Morgan-Barber, the suspect in the case, was apprehended a short time after the incident in the 14000 block of Hero Way and detained without further incident. During her arrest, the police found her in possession of a pistol, which they seized. She has since been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and is currently being held at the Williamson County Jail.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the hospital and is recovering from a non-life-threatening injury. Leander Police have emphasized that this was an isolated event and reassured the public that there is no ongoing danger. They have also confirmed that the park areas remain open and are safe for visitors.
