A 48-year-old Clarkston man has been charged in connection to a fatal shooting at a Howell tattoo parlor. Jeremy Michael Heath faces charges of carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon after the incident at Metro Studios Ink, according to CBS News Detroit. The shooting resulted in the death of Sean Thompson, 46, of Howell.
Howell Police responded to a disturbance call on June 28, just before 5:30 p.m., to find Thompson fatally shot. Allegedly, Thompson was "causing a disturbance" at the shop and there was a history of disputes between him and the staff. Despite some reports, officials have stated Thompson did not appear to be armed. Heath was reportedly quick to fire a shot that ended Thompson's life after verbal threats were exchanged. His bond was set at $200,000 during his arraignment in 53rd District Court, as WLNS has noted.
Michael Dunn, Chief of the Howell Police Department, emphasized the isolation of the event. "This was an isolated incident that had no connection to the Balloonfest taking place this weekend in the city," Dunn stated in a press release. He also addressed the spread of misinformation surrounding the case, with some media and social media reports offering speculative details, as reported by Livingston Daily.
While the investigation is ongoing, the Livingston County Prosecutor's Office is to continue review the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Jeremy Michael Heath remains in custody at the Livingston county Jail.
