The Clermont community has been shaken by allegations against a local acupuncture doctor. Andrew Walsh, age 52, stands accused of sexual battery, with a patient reporting inappropriate contact during a treatment session. Walsh was taken into custody on July 2, following a police investigation spurred by the patient's claims, which included allegations of being touched on her genitals and breasts during an appointment, as reported by ClickOrlando.
Operating under the business name Acupuncture Clermont, Walsh has offered his services since 2019, claiming to provide relief through "the scientific application of acupuncture and natural holistic medicine," according to the clinic's website. However, his practice now sits at the center of a serious criminal allegation. Walsh, who is being held at the Lake County Jail without bond, has been formally charged with felony sexual battery, FOX 35 Orlando detailed.
The current charge stems from an incident with a woman who had been a patient for approximately six months, as outlined in the arrest affidavit. The accuser relayed to the police a detailed account of her experiences in which she felt violated during what was supposed to be a standard therapeutic session. Clermont Police followed up on her accusations with a search warrant executed at Walsh’s clinic, which presumably led to the doctor’s arrest and the charge he now faces.
Authorities are actively seeking additional information and believe there may be more victims.
