On the Fourth of July, an outing took a sudden turn when a boat overturned off the coast of Galveston, Texas. A Coast Guard crew swiftly rescued two children and two adults. The group found themselves holding onto their capsized vessel when Towboat U.S. alerted Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston at approximately 6:20 p.m., as reported by KHOU.
The watchstanders at the sector made the decision to quickly issue an urgent marine information broadcast and to send out a response crew. According to the same KHOU report, it's worth noting the precautionary steps that seemingly helped avoid tragedy: the children were fortunately wearing life jackets, although the man and woman were not.
Upon the Coast Guard crew's arrival, they encountered the individuals clinging to their boat. U.S. Coast Guard news release detailed that the rescue was executed by a Station Galveston 29-foot Response Boat–Small (RB–S) crew, reflecting the precise and efficient coordination commonplace in such critical operations.
After the rescue, the Coast Guard safely transferred the shocked but unharmed boaters to Galveston Bait and Tackle, as further explained in the Coast Guard's press release. No injuries were reported in the aftermath.
