Seventeen days have passed without a trace of Doris Maricela Aguilar, 25, who disappeared on the night of July 1st. On July 8th, her abandoned vehicle was discovered near Interstate 17 and Bethany Home Road with her belongings inside, As FOX 10 Phoenix reported, containing her purse and wallet, which were full of cash. This unsettling find has heightened fears for her safety, particularly in light of unsettling reports of a stalker's threatening behavior prior to her disappearance.
Described as a devotee to fitness, a health-conscious individual, and diligent in her work, Aguilar's sudden vanishing act did not adhere to her usual pattern of behavior. Aguilar had no history of mental illness, drug use, or unexplained absences. According to details retrieved from Cargreen, alarming details emerged about a co-worker who relentlessly pursued her, sending messages that eventually prompted her employer to terminate his position. However, severed from his job, he persisted in appearing at her gym, sending distressing messages. A post as recent as June 27 ominously stated, "Getting my membership back… see you soon."
In a distressing turn of events, despite losing his job for his behavior, the stalker allegedly made ominous overtures via social media, using a profile picture with a gun and the only photo of an AR-15 in the back of a car, FOX 10 Phoenix captured statements from friends and family who conveyed Aguilar's fear. Aguilar even changed gyms three times to evade him, only to find him appearing once more in the parking lots she hoped to escape.
Aguilar's family, desperate for answers and respite from the fear with every passing day, enlisted the aid of Steve Fischer, a licensed private investigator. Fischer is currently engaged in the retrieval of surveillance footage from where Aguilar's car was found and poking into the digital whispers of her cell phone records – which recently pinged in Houston. David Lara, a friend closely following the case surprisingly told FOX 10 Phoenix, "I believe that guy took her." The Phoenix Police are working in tandem with Fischer, processing the vehicle and continuing their scrutinizing follow-up on every available lead.
The community's concern lingers heavily, echoes of distress and the hope that Aguilar remains in Arizona. The authorities urge anyone with pertinent information to come forward and support this ongoing investigation.
