The streets of Culver City witnessed a harrowing episode of armed robbery in the early hours of June 20th, when two individuals accosted a victim at an ATM on Sepulveda Boulevard. In the dead of night, fear held sway as one of the suspects brandished a black semi-automatic rifle, compelling the victim to surrender his money and cell phone. According to a press release from the Culver City Police Department, the robbery transpired at approximately 1:19 am, with the duo confronting their target with demands and threats.
In the ensuing investigation, detectives worked to meticulously unravel the identities of the suspects involved. Their inquiry bore fruit when, on July 3, 22-year-old Joe Saldivar-Salazar of Los Angeles was apprehended and taken into custody. Just days later, on July 5, Alexander Mejia, 21, also from Los Angeles, was arrested. As per the press release, Saldivar-Salazar managed to post bail and secure his release, while Mejia remains detained, his bail set at one hundred thousand dollars.
The Culver City Police has extended an invitation to the public to come forward with any information that may further aid the investigation. An outreach has been crafted to ensure that potential witnesses can securely and directly contact the authorities. Officer Jennifer Atenza, serving as the department's Public Information Officer, has been designated as a point of contact, as per the Culver City Police Department.
