In a recent theft crackdown, the San Mateo Police Department reported the arrest of a Daly City man, Carlos Palafox, for multiple thefts at a local Lululemon store. According to the San Mateo Police Department, Palafox was nabbed on Monday after he allegedly made off with over $5,000 in apparel from the retailer located at Hillsdale Shopping Center.
Since February, Palafox had been under the microscope for a string of seven other thefts at the same store. On the most recent occasion, as store employees watched Palafox filling a bag with clothing and fled without tendering payment, San Mateo Police were quick to the scene. Running from the store, officers located the suspect two blocks away from Lululemon with the merchandise, where they had already been described well by the employees.
Taken into custody without incident, officers reported recovering the stolen goods—valued at $5,600—which were later restored to the Lululemon store. The perpetrator, Palafox, aged 24, has been charged with eight counts each of second-degree burglary and organized retail theft, charges that have landed him in the San Mateo County Jail, the police added.
