The Tennessee community of Dandridge is mourning the loss of 7-year-old Serenity Alanna Marie Kinsey after her body was found in Douglas Lake following an AMBER Alert, as confirmed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, as reported by Local Memphis.
WVLT detailed that Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey disclosed the utilization of ground teams, drones from the Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopters, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in the search operation. Serenity, who was reported missing yesterday morning, had a history of wandering away. However, her previous departures from home were brief and resolved quickly.
After authorities received a 911 call around 5 a.m, the TBI issued an AMBER Alert and search efforts intensified. Serenity, who had autism and was non-verbal, was last seen wearing black shorts and a blue shirt, according to FOX13 Memphis.
In a statement obtained by WVLT, officials said "One of the first responding deputies deployed his K-9 partner which lead him to the area of a dock on Douglas lake." The sheriff's dive team, along with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, conducted underwater searches, ultimately discovering the child’s body. It was sent to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for autopsy. The community, deeply affected by the tragedy, continues to express condolences, and the authorities have commended the multiple agencies involved in the search.
"Our hearts go out to her family during this difficult time," said the TBI, capturing the collective sentiment of a community grappling with grievous loss, as Serenity’s family and the public at large hope for answers following the completion of the ongoing investigation, as noted by Local Memphis.
