Authorities are on the lookout following an armed carjacking that took place at a Wawa convenience store in New Castle, Delaware. The Delaware State Police announced that they are currently investigating the crime which occurred in the early hours this morning.

According to the official report, the incident happened around 2:18 a.m. at the Wawa located at 117 South Dupont Highway. A 25-year-old individual found themselves at the wrong end of a firearm when an unknown assailant, described only as a black male, confronted the victim. The suspect brandished a weapon and demanded their car keys. Out of fear, and valuing life over property, the victim handed over the keys to their Honda Accord, which the suspect then took, fleeing towards State Route 273.

The Delaware State Police have not yet released surveillance video or images of the suspected carjacker. Investigators are combing through available evidence and are expected to share more information as it becomes available.

As of now, the suspect remains at large and the investigation ongoing. The Delaware State Police urge anyone with information related to the incident to come forward, as even the smallest detail could be pivotal in apprehending the individual responsible. The car, a Honda Accord, was last seen heading in the direction of State Route 273, the destination thereafter is unknown.
