Travelers who frequent Denton Enterprise Airport will need to adjust their plans as the airport has announced the closure of its main runway for a much-needed makeover. The move, which started yesterday and stretches through to August 17 is set to bolster the safety and service standards of the hub, according to the City of Denton, Texas.
Denton's commitment to maintaining a top-notch aviation facility is evident as this closure facilitates a full-depth reconstruction of the 7,002-foot main runway, which includes a taxiway shift, the installment of an energy-efficient LED lighting system, and improved drainage for better weather resistance. The city is collaborating with the Federal Aviation Administration and TxDOT to realize these enhancements, as the airport director Ryan Adams emphasized the project's anticipated positive impact on the airport's future and the local economy, as per the City of Denton, Texas.
With the main runway taking a temporary break, operations aren't grounding to a halt—flights scheduled on this strip are rerouting to the airport's backup runway; this contingency plan promises a smoothed-out transition for fliers and minimal hiccups to the aviation activities, including the centric roles the airport plays in corporate aviation, flight training, and more.
Questions and inquiries about the temporary changes can be directed to Dustin Sternbeck at (940) 349-8251, or by emailing [email protected], and those interested in staying informed about the ongoing developments and other related news, the City encourages visits to their official website where updates are readily available.
