A tense encounter on a Washington State highway led to a deputy-involved shooting and the death of a suspect in Spanaway this past Tuesday. According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department blotter, a suspect in a white van shot at a Washington State Trooper on Hwy 512 in Lakewood at approximately 10:19 am.

The paramedics were called to the scene to treat the suspect, but their lifesaving attempts were in vain. The individual was pronounced dead at the location.
