A north Georgia man's body was found in Lake Rabun after an overnight disappearance, drawing a somber close to a search that began on Saturday. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed they responded to a call for a possible drowning the afternoon before Robert Clinkscales, a 39-year-old resident of Dillard, was found. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that Clinkscales was last spotted on Friday around 10:30 p.m.
The morning after he disappeared, his belongings, consisting of shoes and phone, turned up at the entrance to a boathouse on the property. Following a swift search, his body was discovered submerged in 40 to 50 feet of water, roughly 30 feet from the boathouse, according to 11Alive.
The authorities have yet to piece together the circumstances that culminated in Clinkscales' demise. After the recovery operation commenced around midnight, a diver from Town County aided in retrieving the man's body. It has since been transported to the Rabun County Coroner to undergo an autopsy.
