In Dorchester, a local man has been taken into custody on charges of taking inappropriate photographs of a minor. Agustin Jaramillo, 28, was arraigned in Dorchester BMC on Monday, faced with allegations of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14, according to information from Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.
Reportedly, the incident transpired last month when an 11-year-old was approached by Jaramillo on her way to a bus stop. After asking the girl to assist him with tied a knot, Jaramillo is said to have surreptitiously taken a photo up the child's skirt. Judge Thomas Kaplanes has set bail at $500 and scheduled a pre-trial hearing for September 24.
The Conservatory Lab Charter School in Dorchester was the site where the young girl reported the distressing encounter to school staff, which prompted an immediate response by the Boston police Yesterday. The suspect, described as a mustachioed man in his 30s carrying a white plastic shopping bag, was seen in the area by several cameras, leading to a public distribution of his image.
A decisive tip came through a Facebook Messenger, steering investigators toward Jaramillo as the man in the disseminated photos. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued on June 29, culminating in Jaramillo's capture. In words of DA Hayden, "This young girl deserves great credit for relaying to school officials what happened to her that morning. That information, along with valuable assistance from a community member, helped police make an identification and arrest.
