
Earlier today, Boston's Youth Violence Strike Force took Mekhi Clagon, a 19-year-old from Dorchester, into custody on several firearm charges. The arrest occurred in Mattapan after officers on patrol observed Clagon allegedly concealing a weapon under his clothing.
The incident took place at approximately 12:44 AM at the intersection of Harvard Street and Washington Street. According to the Boston Police Department's official report, officers were finishing a traffic stop when they noticed Clagon, who aroused suspicion due to his behavior and what appeared to be a firearm concealed in his sweatshirt. When approached by the police Clagon, fled, initiating a chase.
During the pursuit, officers observed Clagon reportedly throw an object, later identified as a firearm, into a nearby field. The weapon was retrieved and found to be a Smith and Wesson SD9, equipped with a round in the chamber and ten rounds in the magazine, along with a Lightwin flashlight/laser attachment.
Following the chase, law enforcement officials were able to subdue and apprehend Clagon. He faces charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device - along with a Firearm Violation with one prior violent/drug crime count. Clagon is slated to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court.
