The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has announced that the East Charlotte License Plate Agency, located at 5622 E. Independence Blvd., Suite 124, will close its doors for the last time at 5 p.m. on July 30. The current operator, Colleen Grier, who has been managing the establishment since September 2008, will end her contract with the agency, which is situated within the Independence Shopping Center in Charlotte.
Residents requiring vehicle registration services, title transactions, vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags, or duplicate registrations after the closure can visit other nearby license plate agencies in the area. These include locations on 809 E. Arrowood Rd. at South Oak Shopping Center, 3250-G Wilkinson Blvd. at the Shops at Westerly Station, 14015-J E. Independence Blvd. in the Indian Trail Village, and 4612 N.C. Hwy. 49 S. at the Bestway Center in Harrisburg, all of which operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
According to the N.C. DOT press release, North Carolina is home to 126 license plate agencies that offer these services to vehicle owners. With the Charlotte agency's upcoming hiatus, customers are encouraged to take advantage of these other locations for their DMV-related needs.
Additionally, the official press release reminds the public that many vehicle services are available online. Services such as property tax payments and registration renewals can be conducted on the state’s DMV website. For those interested in accessing these online options, a visit to MyNCDMV.gov is suggested to facilitate these transactions.
