
The Elgin community is on high alert as the local police department is currently investigating a series of three drive-by shootings that have disrupted the peace on the same street. According to CBS Austin, the incidents, which damaged several vehicles and homes, all occurred within the 500 block of East Alamo Street, close to Thomas Memorial Park.
The first two episodes were reported on July 8, with officers first arriving on the scene at 8:40 a.m. and later at 2:47 p.m. "an unknown individual/s engaged in a drive by shooting, striking multiple vehicles and homes," During the morning incident, as noted in CBS Austin report. No injuries have been reported, but the consecutive attacks have left residents of the suburb unnerved. The next incident came nearly two and a half weeks later on July 24, when officers, called to the scene around 3:27 a.m., discovered shell casings on the roadway—evidence of the persistence of violence plaguing this slice of suburbia.
Facing a community rattled by repeated gunfire, Elgin Police are set to address public concerns and provide updates on the investigation. A press conference is scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m., which will be streamed live, announced KXAN. This event promises to offer further insight into the measures being taken to halt the string of potentially deadly incidents.

The Elgin Police Department has yet to identify or apprehend suspects in connection with the shootings, leaving the question of who is behind these dangerous acts unanswered.
