A workplace incident turned violent at 925 Peachtree St last night when a firearm was discharged, injuring one. Atlanta Police Department officers arrived on the scene shortly before 10 p.m., finding a female victim with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was conscious and able to speak, subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect, identified as Deante Clark, both employees at the location, were involved in an altercation. According to the Atlanta Police Department, the victim encountered Clark, whose firearm accidentally went off as he was attempting to adjust it during their shift, resulting in the victim’s injury.
Clark was taken into custody at the scene and is facing charges for Reckless Conduct. Following his arrest, he has been transported to the Fulton County Jail. The victim's current condition is not detailed beyond her initial state when police arrived.
While the investigation is still ongoing, this incident raises concerns about workplace safety and the need for responsible firearm handling. "During their shift, the victim and suspect came into physical contact," as stated by the Atlanta Police Department, emphasizing the immediate proximity of the confrontation leading up to the discharge of the weapon.
