After more than two decades of service, Lt. Talley has turned in his badge at the Mesquite Police Department, entering retirement with the commendations and respect of his peers trailing behind him. In what can only be explained as the close of one significant chapter in his life, Talley's journey through the ranks has left an indelible mark on the department, having started his career as a Communications Operator and Detention Officer back in 1996, according to the Mesquite Police Department.
His ambition to become a Mesquite Police Officer was realized with hard work, and through the years, he took on numerous roles, from patrolling the streets to becoming a core member of the Tactical Team. Under this responsibility, Talley stepped into the world of the CID/Narcotics unit, a testament to his unconditional commitment to upholding justice and safeguarding the community.
Recognized for his leadership qualities, Lt. Talley climbed up the ranks, promoted to Sergeant in 2008 and to Lieutenant in 2017. Having received 40 Letters of Commendation during his tenure, his career stands as an exemplar of exceptional police service and professionalism. While he carried out his final supervisory role overseeing multiple facets within the department, particularly the Criminal Investigations Division, Talley's attention to duty and integrity emphasized by the department's acknowledgement, were always at the forefront.
It is an absence keenly felt by the members of the Mesquite Police Department – the departure of Lt. Talley, a man whose high standards in law enforcement have influenced many. "It was a bitter sweet day for the department saying farewell to one of our best!" encapsulates the mix of pride and nostalgia that comes with the end of a long-standing career. As embarking on the new chapter, this force of dedication and leadership will surely be missed.
