A Fairfield man was arrested earlier this month after allegedly attacking two 12-year-old students while they were en route to school. The children were walking along a bike path between Meadowlark Drive and East Tabor Avenue early in the morning of June 5 when the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Carlos Guadalupe DeLosReyes, reportedly approached and attempted an assault, as per FOX40.

The youngsters fought off the attacker and continued to their school, where they reported the incident. Following their brave response, Fairfield Police began an investigation which included interviews with witnesses and a thorough examination of surveillance footage. The Special Victims Unit of the Fairfield Police Department managed to identify DeLosReyes as a suspect in the attempted attack.

According to KRON4, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for DeLosReyes, and he was located and taken into custody by Fairfield PD Special Operations detectives on July 3. He has since been booked into Solano County Jail, facing multiple felony charges, including kidnap to commit rape, attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child, and lewd or lascivious acts with a child.

The Fairfield Police Department expressed pride in the children's actions: "We're incredibly proud of the actions taken by these two children," they stated at the time of an initial report on KRON4. DeLosReyes is currently facing a series of serious charges, including assault with intent to commit rape, criminal threats, false imprisonment, and child abuse likely to cause great bodily injury.
