The family of Dior Thedford, a five-year-old girl who tragically drowned in the Comfort Suites hotel pool in Cordova last month, has signaled their intent to file a wrongful death lawsuit. During a recent news conference, Julius Thedford, Dior's father, shared his grief, stating, "Losing her is a pain so unimaginable," as they mourned the untimely loss of the young girl, as Action News 5 reported.
According to a WREG report, Dior was found unresponsive after she and another child managed to gain access to the hotel's indoor swimming pool, her family is now seeking answers about how the children were able to enter the pool area; Julius Thedford, reflecting on his daughter's life, mentioned her love for Happy Meals, watching Caillou on Youtube, and her fondness for the colors pink and purple.
Local Memphis highlights the family's frustration over the hotel's lack of adequate security measures to protect children from such dangers, with the Memphis Police Department still investigating the circumstances leading up to Dior's access to the pool. "I am saddened that the Comfort Suites didn't have more security measures in place to protect young children from entering the pool area and drowning," Julius Thedford told Local Memphis, expressing a commitment to uncovering how the incident occurred.
The legal representatives from Daniel, Williams & Associates, PLLC, speaking for Julius Thedford, announced plans for the impending lawsuit, while the owner of Comfort Suites has not yet responded to inquiries about the case. As the Thedford family seeks justice for their profound loss they are motivated by the need for transparency and changes in hotel safety protocols that could prevent future such tragedies from unfolding.
