Tragedy struck the streets of Vallejo on Monday night when a high-speed chase ended in a fatal collision, marking the fourth traffic-related death in the city this year. According to the Vallejo Police Department (VPD), an officer noticed a stolen 2014 white Dodge Durango and waited for backup before attempting a stop. The situation escalated quickly as the driver, refusing to comply, sped away—leading officers on a pursuit.
The brief chase, spanning roughly a mile, ended when the driver lost control and crashed into multiple objects at the intersection of Broadway St. and Alabama St. In the violent aftermath, VPD officers wasted no moment, pulling the unresponsive driver from the flaming wreck and administering medical aid. Despite their life-saving attempts and the arrival of the Vallejo Fire Department (VFD) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the driver’s injuries proved fatal.
The identity of the deceased has been withheld, pending the notification by the Solano County Sheriff's Coroner's Office to the next of kin. The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation by the VPD’s Traffic Division. Community members who have information about the incident are encouraged to step forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry.
