
Tragedy struck on the streets of Las Vegas when a pickup truck collided with a Honda CRV, leading to the deaths of two individuals, marking the city's 83rd and 84th traffic-related fatalities this year. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident, characterized as a double fatal hit and run, occurred around 2:42 a.m. on July 5, at the intersection of East Charleston Boulevard and North Hollywood Boulevard.
The collision unfolded when a GMC Sierra pickup truck, reported to have been speeding, ran a fresh red traffic signal and struck a westbound Honda CRV, which had the green light as it entered the intersection; the force of the impact redirected the Honda, which then came to a rest on the corner of the intersection while the GMC stopped on a nearby sidewalk, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a scene of devastation and prompting an ongoing search by authorities. The driver and a passenger in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene by arriving medical personnel.
Officials have issued an appeal to the public for any relevant information regarding the collision or the whereabouts of the GMC Sierra's driver.
