
Early Sunday morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck in Portland’s Cully neighborhood. The Portland Police Bureau reports that at approximately 3:11 a.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Northeast Lombard Street near the intersection with Northeast Holman Street. Tragically, upon their arrival, they found an adult female pedestrian deceased. The driver involved in the incident, operating a 2015 Nissan Altima, had left the scene but subsequently contacted the police from a nearby location.
Following the incident, the Major Crash Team of the Portland Police Traffic Division was summoned, launching an investigation into the crash that led to the pedestrian’s fatality. Closed for around five hours due to the investigation, Northeast Lombard Street was expected to reopen soon after the inquiry at the scene was complete. The police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the crash, with ongoing investigations taking place, as reported by The Portland Police Bureau.
This event marks not only the city’s 33rd traffic fatality but also the 12th involving a pedestrian in the year 2024.
