
A celebratory gathering in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square turned tragic Thursday night when an art event was disrupted by a burst of gunfire. According to a report from SPD Blotter, the incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. on the rooftop of a building located at the 400 Block of Occidental Avenue South.
Responding officers found a 30-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Efforts by the police to provide aid were continued by the Seattle Fire Department, who, despite life-saving measures, pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. Another man sustained minor injuries caused by a shattered tile during the gunfire and was found on the street level. The identity of either man has not yet been disclosed by authorities.
As of now, the Seattle Police Department has not identified a suspect involved in the shooting, and details surrounding the catalyst of the incident remain unclear. The SPD Homicide Unit detectives were dispatched to the location and are diligently working to piece together what led to the fatal event.
