Residents in Hoffman Estates and South Barrington have a major infrastructure enhancement to look forward to. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi alongside Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle officially announced a substantial $500,000 in federal funds destined to comprehensively revamp Central Road, according to the Cook County Government. The congressman, renowned for his commitment to community development, has once again brought federal investment home, securing these funds through the federal Community Project Funding.

"Cook County is extremely grateful to Rep. Krishnamoorthi for his support of our work to ensure that the County’s infrastructure provides our residents with a high quality of life and allows businesses to thrive," President Preckwinkle said, as stated by Cook County Government. This project is set to swiftly move forward thanks in part to these funds which will aid in the transformation of Central Road into a more modern and efficient thoroughfare with improved stormwater systems..

A total investment of $18.9 million is mapped out for the entire length of the improvement, with contributions coming from several sources. Besides the federal grant, Cook County is injecting a significant $16.3 million via motor fuel tax funds, while the REBUILD ILLINOIS Bond funds are contributing over $1 million. Additionally, the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program is chipping in more than $600,000. The Village of Hoffman Estates also has opted to invest $170,000 into the project.

Local leaders expressed vibrant acknowledgment of the collaborative efforts involved. "We appreciate the collaboration between Congressman Krishnamoorthi’s office, Cook County and South Barrington in seeing this project to completion," Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod said, as per Cook County Government
