A former corrections officer at Lewis Prison in Arizona faces serious charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a female co-worker. Ramon Godoy, 33, was indicted on charges including kidnapping, sexual abuse, and the attempt to commit sexual assault. The disturbing incident, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, allegedly took place at Lewis Prison in Buckeye on July 7.

Per the indictment, the victim was told to meet Godoy in the prison gymnasium where he reportedly attacked and held her in a chokehold. After the assault, the victim immediately reported the attack to authorities, leading to Godoy's arrest. According to 12 News, Godoy, previously a Correctional Sergeant with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry, is no longer employed by the department.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell condemned the actions of the ex-officer. "This defendant took advantage of the trust between colleagues and abused his victim at a place where others were not in sight," Mitchell said. "Being a sworn correctional officer does not give you a free pass to abuse," as obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix during their coverage of the indictment. Godoy was held on a $75,000 bond following his arrest. More details will emerge as the case progresses through the courts.
