This festive event was brought to the public by Downtown Fort Worth Inc., injecting life back into the area with free giveaways and lively music.
The months-long closure began back in January following a destructive explosion at the Sandman Hotel, causing significant setbacks for local businesses in the area. The festive atmosphere on Thursday seemed to provide much-needed relief for both residents and shop owners along this stretch between Throckmorton and Houston streets. The city's response to the crisis involved more than just cleaning up with the Economic Development Department, in collaboration with the Local Development Corporation, distributing grants totaling over $137,000. These funds aimed to support four small businesses severely hit by the explosion, trying to mitigate their financial losses during the cleanup process.
